Bio: Sura is a Ph.D. student in the Doxey Lab. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a ME.Sc. in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering in 2014. She also holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Baghdad. Before coming to UW, Sura worked in a variety of sectors including pharmaceutical R&D, medical, and environmental labs, as well as teaching. Sura is skilled in DNA extraction, microbiological techniques, transmission electron microscopy, and bioinformatics. In the Doxey Lab, Sura investigating abundant uncharacterized proteins produced by Pseudoalteromonas tunicata and exploring their functions in biofilms.
